Nicola Meyer MACP, RP
Nicola is a Registered Psychotherapist who supports youth and adults using creative, reflective, and evidence-based approaches tailored to each individuals unique needs.
If you find yourself stuck in patterns of overwhelm, shutdown, anxiety, or emotional reactivity — or feeling shaped by past experiences that still show up in the present — therapy can help you understand these responses and move toward greater steadiness and self-trust. Nicola frequently works with individuals navigating trauma, complex trauma (C-PTSD), relationship difficulties, life transitions, burnout, and a harsh inner critic.
Nicola works from an attachment-based, trauma-informed, and relational lens grounded in the understanding that early experiences shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Rather than viewing symptoms as flaws, she understands them as adaptive nervous system responses that developed to help you survive difficult circumstances.
Her goal is to create a safe, authentic therapeutic relationship where clients feel deeply seen, heard, and understood. From this foundation, clients can explore their experiences at their own pace, build self-awareness, strengthen self-compassion, and develop practical tools to navigate life with greater confidence and resilience.
Nicola integrates attachment-based therapy, parts-informed work, and nervous system regulation approaches. She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a well-researched trauma therapy that can help process distressing memories, reduce the intensity of triggers, and shift longstanding negative beliefs about oneself. EMDR may be helpful for single-incident trauma as well as complex, developmental trauma when clients feel ready for this work.
With youth, Nicola emphasizes psychoeducation about the brain and nervous system, emotional validation, and concrete skills to build confidence and coping capacity. With adults, therapy often involves exploring attachment patterns, healing relational wounds, strengthening self-worth, and developing more secure ways of connecting — both with others and within oneself.
Nicola also has a special interest in supporting parent-child relationships through an attachment lens and is trained in the Circle of Security Parenting model.
Outside the therapy room, you’ll often find Nicola spending time outdoors with family and friends, getting lost in a good book, enjoying live music, or exploring new creative projects.
